Volkswagen Group receives all approvals from German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) for modifications of TDI engines
All necessary official approvals within the remit of the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) have now been issued for the modification of diesel vehicles with type EA189 engines. In close consultation with the relevant authorities, the Group brands concerned will successively notify European and international vehicle owners in the weeks ahead. All customers will then be able to make an appointment in the short term to have their vehicles modified at an authorized service center of their choice.

Volkswagen reaches agreement with U.S. environmental regulators to resolve civil claims related to 3.0L TDI V6 diesel engine vehicles in the United States
Volkswagen AG and Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (together, Volkswagen) announced today that they have reached an agreement with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of California, by and through the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Attorney General, to resolve civil claims regarding approximately 83,000 affected 3.0L TDI V6 diesel engine vehicles in the United States.

Retrofit of Volkswagen Passat, CC and Eos begins
Today, Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) approved the technical solutions for the Volkswagen Passat, CC and Eos models with 2.0l TDI EA 189 engines. Over 800,000 vehicles affected by the diesel issue are now to be recalled as soon as possible. The affected owners will receive letters from Volkswagen and can then arrange a service appointment with a Volkswagen partner workshop without delay.

Volkswagen starts recall of the first Golf model
- Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) grants approval for the software solution for affected Golf 2.0l TDI BMT
- Customers can arrange workshop appointments at short notice
- Recall of further volume models to follow soon
The Volkswagen passenger car brand is starting the technical modification of vehicles affected with engine type EA 189. The first model that customers will be soon able to make a service appointment for is the Golf TDI Blue Motion Technology (BMT) with a 2.0l engine. In Europe around 15,000 Golf cars affected with a manual gearbox are being called to the workshops. Further Volkswagen passenger car brand models will follow shortly in the recall process.

NOx issue: customers are being informed, implementation is starting
The Volkswagen Group has presented the concrete measures proposed for the EA189 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0-litre engines to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). After intensive review, the KBA has fully ratified all of the measures. The remedial measures for all affected vehicles are thus confirmed. The vehicle keepers will shortly be informed about the next steps. In order to ensure that the measures are completed quickly, Volkswagen will begin implementation right at the start of 2016.

Volkswagen making good progress with its investigation, technical solutions, and Group realignment
The Volkswagen Group's realignment is well underway. The Group is making progress on all five of the priorities it set at the end of October: The technical solutions for customers in Europe have been devised, presented to the authorities, and positively evaluated by them. These solutions will begin to be implemented in January 2016.

CO2 issue largely concluded
Just a month after questions relating to the CO2 figures measured on some of the Group's models arose, Volkswagen has largely concluded the clarification of the matter. Following extensive internal investigations and measurement checks, it is now clear that almost all of these model variants do correspond to the CO2 figures originally determined. This means that these vehicles can be marketed and sold without any limitations.

Technical measures for the EA 189 diesel engines affected presented to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority
The clarification and solution of the diesel issue is progressing. The Volkswagen Group has presented specific technical measures for the EA 189 engines affected with a displacement of 1.6 and 2.0 litres to the Federal Motor Transport Authority. This means that correction measures have been fixed for the majority of the vehicles affected. In the development of the solutions, the focus was on maximum customer-friendliness. After implementation of the technical measures, the vehicles will comply with the applicable emissions standards. The final technical solution for the 1.2-litre diesel engine will be presented to the Federal Motor Transport Authority at the end of the month and is expected to comprise a software update.

Next step in clarifying the CO2 issue
The Volkswagen Group reports that the vehicles of the 2016 model year affected by the CO2 issue have been identified. There is thus now clarity about the new vehicles of the current model year out in the marketplace. On 3 November 2015, the Group had already reported that irregularities may have arisen in determining the CO2 figures for type approval of around 800,000 vehicles. This was identified during its own currently ongoing investigations and had been made public.

Statement on the announcement by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) informed Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft on Monday that vehicles with V6 TDI engines had a software function which had not been adequately described in the application process. Volkswagen AG wishes to emphasize that no software has been installed in the 3-liter V6 diesel power units to alter emissions characteristics in a forbidden manner. Volkswagen will cooperate fully with the EPA clarify this matter in its entirety.

Volkswagen confirms: EA288 engines designed for EU5 and EU6 are not affected
Volkswagen confirms today that no software constituting an improper defeat device as defined in law is installed in vehicles with EA 288 EU5 as well as EU6-engines in the European Union. Consequently, new vehicles of the Volkswagen Group offered within the European Union with those engines comply with legal requirements and environmental standards.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, Hans Dieter Pötsch, has requested the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG, Dr. Manfred Bischoff, to agree to the early termination of the contract with Dr. Christine Hohmann-Dennhardt, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG for Integrity and Legal Affairs, which runs until February 28, 2017. She is to join the Volkswagen Group as of January 1, 2016 as the Board Member for Integrity and Legal Affairs.
